First Annual Clever-CON
Date: August 15, 2015
Venue: Tremont Music Hall
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Tremont Music Hall, located in Charlotte, NC, has been alive and kickin’ since 1995. Tremont is one of the most revered premier venues for indie, metal, hardcore, and punk in the Southeast. These hallowed halls have played host to such national bands as Insane Clown Posse, Faster Pussycat, Green Day, Tom Morello, as well as some of our wonderfully talented local bands like Dogbane, Scapegoat, and Fiftywatt Freight Train.
Tremont recently played host to the First Annual Clever-CON. A mixture of rock music and comic convention, and it went off without a hitch. The bands were phenomenal! The Reason You Stayed, Graceful Regret, Osara, ADAGE, and of course Something Clever. I consider myself to be one lucky girl to have caught this show. I love watching talented bands get on stage and do their thing and have fun performing.
Graceful Regret is one of the best bands to come out of Gastonia, NC. I first saw them at, the now defunct, 181 Main back in April of this year, and they just blew me away. Dillon Hoare, the bands lead singer, gave a fantastic performance, Adam Morris and Seth Cook are killers on guitar, Colton Bell slays you on bass, and Buddy Radford is hot on the drums. It’s no wonder their music has been featured on 106.5 The End. Graceful Regret is a band to watch!
The meat and potatoes, the stars of the show, Something Clever, blew this little reporter right out of her Harley Quinn Chuck Taylors! The lights, the sound, their performance! Adam Nelson’s white hot vocals, were smooth like butter. Dylan Roles, a very talented young artist, tore it up on drums. Colt Crevar and Kelly Flusk are complete bad asses on guitars, and Bret Baker burns it up on bass.
The performance that night was hot, hot, hot! The crowd went absolutely insane when Something Clever took the stage. The Pit was dangerously feisty, bodies slamming everywhere, and me having to get out of the way ! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented band. If you haven’t already gotten their EP Shadows of Darkness, shame on you! Seriously go check these guys out. You won’t be disappointed. Peace, love, and rock n roll.
