Sebastian Tvedtnæs of NiteRain

sebastian_niterainNiteRain are loud heavy and aggressive punk hairmetalers hailing from Oslo, Norway. These guys brought their adrenaline fueled rock n’ roll to Hollywood this year after the release of their debut album in 2014, ‘Crossfire’. The band plans to return very soon after they finish recording the material for their second album. Music Junkie Press describes a NiteRain performance as “explosive stage presence and deliver high velocity sleaze rock”. We had the opportunity to talk discuss the return of NiteRain to the states and progress on the new album with vocalist, Sebastian Tvedtnæs.

What got you into music and who is your biggest influence?

I’ve always loved music since I was a little kid. I used to sing along to my parents cassettes all the time… They say!

I bought my first CD when I was 7-8 years old, and it was Deep Purple ‘In Rock.’ But it wasn’t until my uncle bought me GnR’s ‘Appetite For Destruction’ I became who I am today, but my biggest influence is Mötley Crüe.

Since the release of your debut album, CrossFire, what type of response has the band received from listeners?

Actually, that one surprised us! We only got great reviews all over the world! We were kind of ready to get haters and stuff! So only positive feedback on ‘CrossFire.’

NiteRain recently visited the states and played various well-known clubs in the LA and Vegas areas. Was your experience here everything you had hoped for?

Our stay in the U.S was everything we hoped for! Great shows, great audience and we sold all the albums we brought over in 2 shows. They treated us real good! Hot girls everywhere; what more can a blonde rocker wish for?

You are currently in the studio working on your second album. What can fans expect from the new material?

We’re digging deeper in our souls to get these songs out. Its gonna be faster, louder and a lot more aggressive! Its a fun record with a great element of danger. It also has a good groove to it! Girls must be able to shake some ass at our concerts too; we practically doing everybody a favor!

What is the song writing process like for NiteRain?

We’re just jamming together, and someone, says “STOP! What was that?” And then the boys continue jamming on what they just created and they create this monster of a song. Later, I will record the product on my iPhone and listen to it over and over again while singing. I kind of finishe the song with lyrics and melodies! It all falls in place in 2 days.

While your fans continue to grow, do you have any plans for a full tour of the United States anytime soon?

Yeah! Definitely! While we stayed in L.A, we signed with a Florida based booking company. They are ready, but we gotta tour some countries in Europe first and then head over! We’re back in between August-December sometime! I’ll tell you guys!

If you could be a stand in vocalist for any band past or present what band would you choose?

If Vince Neil couldn’t do a tour with Mötley Crüe, I would definitely step in for him. There’s not a Crüe song I cant sing! That would be rad!

Describe the most memorable show or festival NiteRain has played so far.

Im December we had a show at The Whisky A Go Go in L.A, where we kinda invited everybody. We arrived in a pink limousine provided by our good friend Stefan at Moods of Norway, and we filled it up with chicks; when we arrived we were so drunk on cheap Champagne. All our friends were there. Tons of porn stars and celebrities. I heard later a midget got his head caught on fire; it was just a crazy surreal night! Some say we caused the night; I blame it on Hollywood.

Everyone has one that they may be embarrassed to admit… Musically, what is your biggest guilty pleasure?

Ok, thats gotta be “Bananarama” from Venus! That song rocks no matter what!!

What was the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given by a fellow musician?

Dont give up! Follow your dreams!

What piece of advice would you give to young aspiring musicians?

That’s easy; practice, practice, practice! Keep practicing and kick ass!

What can fans anticipate from NiteRain in the near future?

We will be touring all over, and deliver high velocity kick ass rock n roll albums to people any age all over the world! You can count on NiteRain! Thanks for following us, we love you all! Thanks!
