Dead in 5, Schizophrenic Razor Project

Schizophrenic Razor Project, 2013

To be honest, I have never been much of an alternative metal fan. When I received Dead in 5’s EP, Schizophrenic Razor Project, curiosity killed the “Kat” in a sense and I had to give it a listen. You can tell just from the six tracks on this EP that this group is a well-oiled rock n’ roll machine. The 6 song EP was produced, engineered and mixed by Chuck Alkazian, who has worked with rock luminaries Soundgarden, Alter Bridge and Volbeat, at Pearl Sound Studios in Canton, Michigan and mastered by Scott Hull (Sting, Steely Dan) at Masterdisk in New York.

The band’s previous discs “Wreck Your World”, and their self titled CD “Dead in 5”, both released in 2013, brought the band critical acclaim, and landed them high profile licensing placements, including 7 songs in the cult horror film “Pro-Wrestlers vs. Zombies,” (Troma Entertainment) starring WWE legends “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Jim “Hacksaw” Duggan, Shane “The Franchise” Douglas, Matt Hardy and more.

A combination of Soundgarden, Clutch, Motorhead and Led Zeppelin, this is the third release for Dead in 5. The album is definitely not lacking in production quality. Schizophrenic Razor Project is a perfect blend of intense vocals, pounding rhythms, and heavy, powerful riffs. Turn the key, and floor it! Be sure to catch Dead in 5 at one of their upcoming shows.
