Scooby-Doo! And KISS: Rock and Roll Mystery

I will admit, when I first heard about this Scooby Doo-KISS movie, I wasn’t exactly sure how to feel about it. I love Kiss, but am not exactly a big Scooby fan. Well, Rock and Roll Mystery turned out to be much more fun then I thought it would be.

This movie seems like it everything Kiss’ 1978 campy movie KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park should’ve been. Silly, exciting without taking it’s self too seriously. And of course, no obvious stunt doubles.

The plot itself does have a lot of similar things. Amusement park setting, called Kiss World (which if it was a real place I would vacation there every year), a Kiss concert at the park, and someone bad trying to cause havoc. And if you’ve seen any Scooby-Doo episode, you pretty much know how the story goes.

Kiss fans will also get a kick out of the tons of Kiss song/album named characters, such as Shandi Strutter, Delilah Domino, The Destroyer (voiced by Hootie himself, Darius Rucker), and The Elder. But stealing the show is longtime Kiss manager Doc McGhee, voicing Kiss tour manger Chip McGhoo, who’s top concern is keeping Kiss on the road to sell more merchandise, and easily gets the best laughs of the movie.

So if you are a Kiss fan, you will get a kick out of this, unless you’re just a sourpuss. And if you have kids, this is a great way to introduce the to Kiss. Then you can buy them more Kiss stuff, and isn’t that the whole goal of this team up anyway?
